Britspag: Annual Update in Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology

March 9, 2017 - March 10, 2017

Overview
Adolescents represent one quarter of the world’s population with their specific health needs being increasingly recognised. The BritSPAG Annual Conference covers details of advances in the rapidly changing field of Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology (PAG). Some may be technology-driven, such as advances in imaging and surgery for many aspects of management of Mullerian Anomalies. Other areas reflect increased international collaborative working such as change in practice for those with Disorders of Sex Development. As healthcare evolves so do the challenges, in both high and low-resource settings. These are contrasted in the programme with guidance on FGM in children, managing the obese adolescent and providing care in a resource-poor setting. The training day will cover all the aspects of the problems of puberty. Learn about normal puberty, when to investigate abnormality
and how to manage early and late puberty, adolescent menstrual dysfunction, polycystic ovarian syndrome, congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Understand young women’s psychological and emotional needs during puberty and how to discuss sex with them. Find out about rokitansky syndrome and XY women. The multidisciplinary nature of paediatric and adolescent gynaecology is reflected in the invited speakers, providing an opportunity to learn from other disciplines. This course is suitable for the theoretical component of the ATSM ‘Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology’
