President, FIGIJ

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

So far it has been a busy time in the world of PAG in terms of training, updating and education of clinicians.

I am aware that there have been several very successful PAG educational meetings/ conferences around the world. In Berlin, their 10th annual meeting was transformed into the largest ever German speaking PAG meeting. The North American Society held their annual meeting in Chicago and ALOGIA has just had their meeting in Montevideo, Uruguay. Paul Wood and I had the honor and pleasure of attending this meeting which was attended by members from all Latin American countries.

The European meeting is about to occur in Vilnius, and there will be a PAG session at the Asia- Oceania obstetrics and gynaecology meeting in Hong Kong also in June. Greece, Israel and Australia-New Zealand will also have conferences including PAG in their programs later this year.

We are all fortunate to have all these opportunities to learn, share and to extend our knowledge. Possibly more importantly these meeting give everyone the opportunity to share ideas with colleagues.

It would be lovely to hear how this is being translated into improved care for girls and young women.

Have you attended a meeting and come away inspired by something and been able to introduce the idea into your area of work? Sharing ideas for effective programs is probably one of the most beneficial outcomes of these meetings. Whether this be the introduction of peer workers to reduce teen pregnancy rates, school programs, or support groups for young women with vaginal agenesis – they all have their place in the improving health of young women.

Please do write in to share your positive experiences, but also write to let us – the executive of your organization (FIGIJ)- how we can better help you.

Best wishes,

Sonia
