Born in Evilard (Switzerland), Dr. Irmi Rey-Stocker was a keystone pioneer of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (PAG). 

She studied Medicine at the Universities of Fribourg and Basel, where she specialized in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1963. 

Subsequently she was a resident at Prof. John Huffman’s Department in Chicago and at Prof. Rudolf Peter’s Department in Prague, where she deepened her knowledge in PAG.  

Being the first female gynecologist of the Canton of Valais, she was the  director of the Dept.of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Hospital of Sierre

At the same time she  was Associated Physician at the University Hospital of Lausanne.

In 1971, in Lausanne, Dr. Irmi Rey Stocker attended the foundation conference of FIGIJ and she became its first Secretary General. 

By practicing clinical PAG, by writing books and papers, by contributing to educational programs about sexuality, she devoted her professional life to the spread of contraception and to children and young women. 

She was also the mentor of Prof. Vincenzina Bruni, from Florence, thus contributing to the diffusion of PAG in Italy. 

Besides her professional practice, Dr Rey-Stocker loved hiking in the mountains and skiing. 

After retirement, (1995), she spent long periods of time in Jerusalem, learning Hebrew language and studying the three great monotheistic religions at the al-Qods University. 

She died on December 9th, 2025. 

Dr. Rey-Stocker’s  contribution to the development and spread of PAG was paramount and she deserves respect and gratitude from the whole PAG family in the world.
