Winter 2016 President’s Update
It seems just a short while ago that many of us were together in Florence at the World Congress, renewing friendships, learning, sharing and joining together with the aim of improving the health of girls and young women. It was a fantastic meeting, and it was wonderful catching up with everyone who was there.
Prof. Jan Horejsi
On November 18th, 2016, Prof. Jan Horejsi passed away. Born in Prague, the homeland of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, when Prof. Peter launched his practice, Prof. Horejsi gave a great contribution to our discipline, mainly dealing with genital anomalies.
THE FIGIJ SESSION AT THE 24TH COGI CONGRESS
On Saturday morning, November 12th, 2016, in a cold and foggy Amsterdam, the FIGIJ Session on Pediatric and Adolescent Ginecology took place at the 24th International Congress “Controversies in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility”. The session’s main topics were HPV infection , fertility preservation and adolescent pregnancy.

2016 Congress in Florence
Our 18th FIGIJ World Congress in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology was held at the Palazzo dei Congressi, Firenze Fiera, on June 25-June 28, 2016.

Where has FIGIJ been? The better question is where haven’t we been? Since we last wrote, we have been to Ethiopia, Istanbul, Copenhagen, London, Florida, and Vancouver for conferences and presentations. See all the details here!
Welcome New IFEPAG Fellows!
During our recent visit to London in September 2014, five new IFEPAG fellows passed their written and oral examinations. These superstars in pediatric and adolescent gynecology include: Hanadi Adnan Bakhsh, MD, from Italy working in Saudi Arabia; Elisabetta Ferrucci, MD, from Italy working in Switzerland; Eva Homolkova, MD of the Czech Republic, Helena Neumannova, MD, from Czech Republic; Eveline Roos, MD, of the Netherlands.
FIGIJ Goes to Africa!
We take our mission of improving the reproductive health of youth worldwide seriously – and in October 2013, FIGIJ had the opportunity to accelerate our efforts in Africa. Three of our board members, Professors Paul Wood, Gabriele Tridenti, and Ellen Rome traveled to the 1st FIGO Africa Conference of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Addis Ababa.
