Dear FIGIJ Colleagues and Friends,
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the new term of the International Federation of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (FIGIJ) and to share with you the remarkable progress our global community has achieved over the past several years.
Since 2023, FIGIJ has continued to grow and strengthen its presence worldwide, now connecting members and affiliated societies across more than 70 countries. This expansion reflects not only our shared commitment to advancing pediatric and adolescent gynecology, but also the power of collaboration across regions, disciplines, and cultures. We are delighted to have an African Regional Society for the first time.
Our work has been guided by a strong spirit of partnership. We have deepened collaborations with leading international organizations, including WHO, FIGO, and United Nations agencies, contributing to global initiatives and policy discussions that impact adolescent health. At the same time, we have continued to support regional societies and foster meaningful engagement at international congresses and scientific meetings.
Education remains at the heart of FIGIJ’s mission. Through webinars, training programs, expansion of IFEPAG-certified centers, and provision of the FIGIJ Bursary, we are building capacity and supporting the next generation of specialists worldwide. Our educational resources, publications, and translations in collaboration with partner organisations are helping to disseminate knowledge and improve clinical practice globally.
We are exceptionally proud of our advocacy efforts, particularly in advancing reproductive justice, comprehensive sexuality education, and adolescent health rights. These initiatives reflect our responsibility not only as clinicians and researchers, but also as advocates for the wellbeing of young people everywhere.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our Executive Board, committees, partners, and members. Your commitment, expertise, and collaboration continue to drive FIGIJ forward. We warmly welcome you to join these efforts and make lasting friends in PAG through our committees.
I would especially like to thank our immediate Past President Dr Marisa Labovsky and the emeritus FIGIJ Board who created a space of inclusivity and empowerment so that FIGIJ may thrive. And to our esteemed General Assembly, thank you for your continued guidance of FIGIJ and it’s new members and Board. We are deeply honored by the trust you have placed in us: we endeavour to serve with integrity, humility, open-hearts and minds.
As we look ahead to the 22nd World Congress in the Philippines, and the next chapter of FIGIJ’s work, I am confident that together we will continue to expand our impact and strengthen our global community. Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecological care is no longer a special consideration, but an essential discipline transforming the realisation of human rights and health of girls and young women across the globe.
Thank you for being part of this important mission.
With warm regards,
AProf. Yasmin Jayasinghe
President, FIGIJ
